PE20  TOWN WALK ABOUT

Cllr C Williams and local Borough officers met up with Mike Martin MP to observe and discuss areas in Paddock Wood.

Cllr C Williams expressed the below:

Mike Martin MP arranged a last-minute walk around Paddock Wood as he was due in the area and had some time to discuss the town.

We met on Commercial Road to discuss the concerns with the parking on the double yellow lines and pedestrian walkways. New large planters, different bollards and different placements, one way system, pedestrianisation, camera recognition and fining were all discussed.

We suggested a monthly farmers market in the centre in one of the car parks would be a positive.

The cycle plan in the local plan was discussed. We mentioned that although the proposed developments will have good routes, none of them are able to link up with the current Town routes.

Littering was also raised. We explained we have a great team of residents who set up the monthly Litter Picker meet up. New signage was discussed as an option to try and stop the littering. Perhaps inviting the business to share these in their windows etc.

Overall, it was a positive meeting. Mike Martin was very supporting and looking at resolutions and support in the areas discussed. The Tunbridge Wells officers have gone away to investigate some of the options and will be discussed with Mike Martin and Town Council.
