BOROUGH & COUNTY COUNCILLORS UPDATE (10 minutes)

Town Councillors should submit questions a week in advance, if possible, to the Borough/County Councillor concerned (copied to the Town Clerk).

The County Councillor has been asked for an update on the plans to re-align the junction at Badsell Road and Maidstone Road.

C127 CO -OPTION OF NEW COUNCILLOR

TWBC have advised that there has been no request for an election following the resignation of Henry Atkins. The council can therefore co-opt a new councillor. Adverts have been placed inviting residents to apply. Closing date for applications is the 2^nd April 2024. Co-option will take place at the meeting on the 15^th April 2024.

C128 LOCAL PLAN

To consider the council’s response to the Local Plan consultation, which was circulated to members on the 12^th February 2024.

C129 COMMUNITY CENTRE

To APPOINT Leanne English as a director of the PWCCO Ltd. It had previously been agreed that Leanne English could be appointed a director following a three-month probation period. This has now been completed. Under Company Law a formal resolution is required from the council and the appointment must then be registered with Companies House within 14 days.
Update from recent Liaison – a meeting took place on the 6th February. Reports will be forwarded separately.
Update on FM Contract – the closing date to receive the draft contract will be 16^th This will be assessed by the Council’s advisor and forwarded to members on the 23^rd February for review. A meeting will be held on the 4^th March to determine the council’s decision. A Governance Document will also be included to set out areas of responsibility for the Town Council and the Community Centre.

C130 ANNUAL TOWN MEETING

The ATM is scheduled to be held on Wednesday 3^rd April 2024 in the Community Centre.

The clerk has been advised that this clashes with a Full Council meeting of TWBC.

Members are asked to consider whether to move the Annual Town Meeting to enable the Borough Councillors to attend. Alternative venue availability in April is Friday 5^th, or Friday 12^th April. (Note: the Clerk is not available on the 12^th April)

The Annual Town meeting must be held between 1^st March & 1^st June.

A representative of the Woodlands PPG had agreed to attend on the 3^rd April. Members are asked to consider whether they would like any additional speakers. Grant recipients are also invited to attend and brief the meeting on how their grant funds have been spent.

(f) Hop Pickers Line – the Hop Pickers Line AGM will take place on Wednesday 27^th March at

2 pm in the Community Centre. All members are invited. The interpretation boards along the Black Path and opposite the John Brunt PH have been installed.

(h) Putlands Leisure Centre

(i) Reports from meetings which members have attended on behalf of the Town Council.

C132 DATE OF NEXT MEETING

The next meeting will take place on Monday 4^th March at 7 pm in the Day Centre to determine the FM contract for the Community Centre. The next Full Council meeting will take place on Monday 18^th March 2024 at 7.45 pm in The Day Centre.
