ES72 DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST
ES73 MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING
To APPROVE the minutes of the meeting held on the 14th February 2022.
ES74 MATTERS ARISING FROM THE PREVIOUS MINUTES
ES66 – Christmas Lights – the order has been placed for the lights for next Christmas.
ES67Hanging Baskets – the order has been placed for the baskets it has been requested that the baskets been installed prior to the Jubilee weekend.
ES64(e) – Zurich Insurance. Despite previously advising that the insurance company pay for the damage to the fence at the Memorial Field last summer, Zurich are now saying that the council is not covered for this type of damage. This matter is being followed up and will be escalated to a formal complaint if necessary.
Legionella Work – the contractor has reviewed the work and has confirmed that the additional work will be included within the original quote of £5332.88. The work can be paid for from the Building Maintenance fund.
ES75 GREEN LANE POND
The council’s pond contractor has visited the along with the Clerk and Deputy Clerk. He has advised that in the first instance the Council should clear the vegetation & debris around the pond and its margins. The water can then be monitored to determine whether it should be dredged or not. Costs should be available at the meeting. The town council still has £14,000 remaining for landscaping costs which was given as part of the S106 agreement when the site was handed over to the town council.
ES76 STORM DAMAGE
Following Storm Eunice on the 25th February 2022 damage occurred in the following areas:
Tree work- Memorial field
1x Blue cedar by tennis courts
1x London plane- compromised branch
1X Cedar- Snapped out limb on floor, tree was left severely unbalanced and had a heavy lean towards the field.
1 x Reduce cedar tree in carpark below fractured stem to stabilise future decay in crown.
Some large branches fell onto the road adjoining the Memorial Field. It was initially thought that they were from Highways owned trees. However, KCC advised that they were not from their trees and asked the town council to clear debris. This work has now been completed.
Cemetery-
1x Large yew branch on floor, tree will require inspection.
1x Ash- has (Daldinia concentrica) on the base of the tree, tree is retrenching and showing signs of ash die back. Removed on grounds of safety
Green Lane-
1x Tree has failed
2x Failed trees in small woodland in Green Lane.
All work has now been completed by the tree surgeons at a cost of £1540.
There was other minor damage done to small trees on the Town Council’s Estate and this will be cleared by Estates Staff.
The rugby goals at Putlands were also damaged and will need replacing. Replacement goals will cost £1600. They are not covered by the Council’s insurance.
