Paddock Wood Community Centre – Breaking of Ground

PADDOCK WOOD TOWN COUNCIL

Community Centre

Paddock Wood Town Council is pleased to announce that work started on the long-awaited Community Centre in its Memorial Field last week.  It has taken four years of hard work and dedication from councillor’s residents and staff, supported by Project Manager Jonathan White from Tunbridge Wells Borough Council along with other Borough officers and members.

It will be built by respected local firm Baxall Construction, Net Zero Champions in July 2021 and is thought to be one of the greenest buildings in the borough.

This facility will bring much needed community space for use by residents. It will include flexible hall space, café meeting room and pre-school. Also included in the project will be two new LTA compliant tennis courts, a new cricket wicket and improvements to the pavilion.

The Town Council, with the assistance of TWBC, was able to secure over a million pounds worth of developer funding from the three housing developments currently under construction to help fund the Project.

Chairman of the Town Council Meryl Flashman said:

“I am delighted that the construction of the Community Centre has now begun.  This is a much-needed facility for the town which has not had a large Community Hall since the loss of the Parochial Church Hall, demolished in the 1960s.  I give my thanks to all those who have enabled this dream to become a reality.”
