Paddock Wood Town Council is looking to recruit an enthusiastic & motivated Estates Operative.  The new member of staff will be part of a small team who maintain the town council owned assets.

Paddock Wood Town Council owns and pays for the upkeep of the following sites:

  • 5 playing fields plus pavilions
  • 5 children’s play areas & the skateboard park
  • Foal Hurst Wood Nature Reserve, Orchard Meadow & Green Lane Spinney
  • The New Cemetery & Closed Church Yard
  • The War Memorial
  • The Day Centre
  • Town Council offices & St Andrews Hall at St Andrews Playing Fields
  • Town Council workshops at the Memorial Field
  • Open spaces at Cobbs Close, Fuggles Close, White’s Corner & Mount Pleasant
  • Five balancing ponds
  • 3 allotment sites
  • Community Centre

 

The Estates Team are based at the Workshops in Memorial Playing Fields which is also the site of the new community centre. There are currently two groundsmen and an Estates Manager.

 

As well as maintaining the above spaces and buildings the Estates Team also look after the planting in the Town Centre and cemetery. This includes the hanging baskets which during the summer months require regular, out of hours, watering. Overtime is paid for this. The Team also assists contractors with the installation of the Town’s Christmas trees.

 

The Estates Operative will report directly to the Estates Manager.

 

The Town Council is offering:

Salary:              £23,000 – £26,500 subject to qualifications & experience

Hours:              37 hours per week, some overtime required

Pension:           6% pension contribution (Aviva Pension scheme) increasing to 10% in April 2025

Holiday:            20 days rising to 25 after 2 years + 2 non-statutory days and Bank Holidays
